| Key facts · IIIn consideration of the criticality of the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project to the businesses and residents of South East Queensland, design teams representing the five Alliance groups delivering the project adopted a world’s best quality approach. The approach ensuring the highest levels of built environment performance where achieved in conjunction with the highest levels of in service durability and reliability. There was a requirement throughout the project for primary and secondary containment, predominately within the three Advanced Water Treatment Facilities. Nukote Pure Polyurea was selected as the lining system of choice due to its physical properties and proven in service track record With the smallest land area, innovative design and construction techniques have been a necessity for the Gibson Island Advanced Water Treatment Plant. This includes the ability to progressively build on, or add new plant components, to existing infrastructure· Due to silty ground conditions, pre-cast concrete piles were driven down 32 metres to ensure secure foundations Areas Of Polyurea Lining Installation
Gibson Island Advanced Water Treatment Plant was converted from an original 35-50 megalitre per day plant design to an innovative design for a 100 megalitre per day plant. · Upon completion, a total of 9,000 cubic metres of concrete will have been poured at the Gibson Island plant · A design innovation will enable rainwater run-off from the main process building at Gibson Island to be collected and combined with incoming water for treatment
